For the ultimate in one-of-a-kindness for your nursery, have you looked into round cribs?

Of course, such an item is not intended for the thrifty shopper (which is probably why neither of us has a round crib) as the crib itself is a tad pricey, never mind the bedding or the mattress.

However, if money is not an issue and you want to give your baby a unique nursery experience, you might consider a round crib.

There are a couple of key benefits to round cribs that the regular old rectangular ones can’t compete with:

  • No corners for baby to bonk his head on
  • Baby gets a 360 degree view of his room, no staring at the wall for a baby in a round crib

Through our research, we’ve found that some makers of round cribs have extra storage built underneath such as shelving for diapers. Pretty smart, we think!

If you would like a truly special nursery for your baby, an unconventional crib can add magic and whimsy as well as being quite a conversation piece.

One important thing to keep in mind is that it’s very difficult to source round cribs and accessories for them so if you spot one you like online, you’d be wise to purchase the mattress and bedding for it at that time to possibly save on shipping costs.

Invest in a quality piece that you really love because you’re definitely going to want to hand it down to future generations.

Trust us, taking down the crib is kind of a sad day that symbolizes your baby growing into a big kid. It will be even sadder if you have completely fallen in love with the furniture.

Here’s a few crib and mattress and round crib bedding sets that we think are just beautiful:

Maybe they should  make round cribs that transition to plant stands or something so you can get more use out of them!

Do you own a round crib? Wanna tell us about it? We’d love to know what you like or don’t like. Leave us a comment.

We’ll be honest with you – custom baby bedding is a totally new concept to us, but it’s very intriguing.

Some people actually make their own baby bedding to provide junior with a sentimental keepsake he or she will be able to have through their entire life. Apparently making the bedding your baby sleeps on is supposed to result in an item that (besides being pooped on, puked on and lord knows what else) will be cherished forever. We’re really fortunate to be living in a day and age where there are lots of people willing to help us out when we don’t have the time/patience/ability to do this ourselves.

Enter custom baby bedding.

You pick out the fabric, the design – you can even have window treatments made – send the money and within days or weeks (depending on the company you choose) you have your very own, custom designed (go-ahead-and-tell-everyone-you-made-it-yourself) baby bedding that your baby (or at the very least, you) will have and hold forever.

Now other people don’t care so much about the sentiment behind their decor – they just can’t stomach the thought of surrounding their baby with pastel ducks and rainbows. Some parents are more edgy, more modern, and therefore their babies must be too.

Some people are just way too stylish to give up that part of themselves just because there’s a nursery in their home.

If you’re one of these types of parents, you are going to be thrilled with the links we’re about to share with you. Imagine your baby’s nursery done in bright paisley or muted houndstooth. Or bright orange set against a black and white checkerboard pattern.

You can even have your baby’s monogram put on the bumper pads in some cases – how cool! You’re the designer when it comes to your bedding. All you have to do is decide on the company you’ll be deciding to trust your baby’s bedding to, choose from the hundreds of color/pattern options and wait for it to be shipped to you.

These are some of the nicest looking custom baby bedding companies we’ve spotted:

Polka Tot Designs – We love this company with an Internet store and a storefront in Alabama. Their testimonials will warm your heart, but what we think is very cool, is that they’ll be in on the conspiracy if you don’t want to know what you’re having, but still want custom bedding.

They’ll liaise with your doctor who tells them if it’s a boy or a girl, you choose a design for each gender, and they’ll design the appropriate one and ship it on the date you want them to!

Undercover Baby - has some gorgeous designs to choose from and they are located in Canada so if you’re a Canuck, this could be where you start your search for custom baby bedding.

Happy Hunting!
